Disclosure: we make Wearbird, an outfit planner. It’s described at the end, under “Our app”, and isn’t ranked or picked here. Every fact about the other apps comes from that app’s own US App Store listing or its own website, help pages or llms.txt, checked on October 23, 2026. Prices are in US dollars on the US App Store. The short answer

There’s no single best outfit planner app; it depends on what you need. By their own listings:

The apps, one by one

Acloset

Acloset leans on AI for adding clothes and styling. Its “Smart Detector” saves up to four separate items from one selfie or mirror photo, and it can import purchases from online stores or Gmail receipts. An AI stylist chat suggests daily outfits for the weather, and Try-On dresses an AI avatar made from your photo.

Alta

Alta is a free AI stylist app. It suggests daily outfits for the weather and your schedule, makes outfits from a request in your own words, and shows outfits on an avatar made from your face and body photos. An outfit selfie becomes separate pieces in your closet, and it plans packing lists for multi-city trips. Alta says it was named a TIME Best Invention of 2025.

Cladwell

Cladwell is a stylist app built around colour and capsules. It offers photo colour analysis on iPhone and iPad, a Style Map, daily outfits from your own clothes for your weather, and “Try it on”, which shows an outfit on a photo of you. Its shopping list suggests a few real products for gaps, with no affiliate links. It also has an app inside ChatGPT.

Fits

Fits is a free closet with unlimited items, background removal and a planner with day and month views. Its AI stylist chat is free with a daily message limit, it can try outfits on from a selfie for 1 AI credit, and it connects to ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP clients.

GetWardrobe

GetWardrobe is the cross-platform option: iPhone, iPad, Android, a free web app and a native Mac app, all in sync. Its AI outfit generator filters by weather, occasion and mood, and Premium adds family wardrobes and packing lists with destination weather. Try-on uses 1 AI credit.

Indyx

Indyx pairs a free digital wardrobe with paid human help. Unlimited items and outfits, a calendar, packing lists and cost-per-wear sorting are free. Personal stylists charge per service, from $60, and the Insider membership adds analytics, inspiration boards and “virtual selfies”.

Stylebook

Stylebook is the long-running paid iOS closet app, on the App Store since 2009 with “over 90 features”: magazine-style outfit collages, an outfit calendar, packing lists, Style Stats with cost per wear, and a web clipper for shopping. Your data stays on your device and in iCloud. Its last update on the App Store was in June 2025.

Whering

Whering is a social wardrobe app that is free at its core. Friends can see your closet and style you, the Planner suggests outfits from your wardrobe for the weather, and it tracks cost per wear and wear rate. Optional AI extras, like Virtual Try On on an avatar of you and Gallery scanning, which digitises items from your photo gallery, use paid credits. It shows no adverts.

Our app: Wearbird (not ranked)

We make Wearbird, so we don’t rank it. Here is what it does, on the same terms as the others:

Head to head

How we compared

We read each app’s own US App Store listing and its own website, help centre and llms.txt on October 23, 2026, and nothing else: no reviews, rankings or other people’s lists. Where an app’s pages disagreed, for example on prices or user numbers, we used the US App Store and left out the figure. “Not stated” means we couldn’t find it in the app’s own materials. We’ll check again each month and update the date at the top.

Questions

What is the best outfit planner app in 2026?
